Five Currant Buns in the Baker's Shop

Check out these yummy currant buns! We made these tasty treats using scraps of card which we laminated, before adding numbers 1-5 on the back. We then found a 'baker's' basket, lined it with a gingham napkin & added our currant buns.

Voila! A simple song illustration which Minnie
has been playing with all day! :o)

Big and round with a cherry on the top
Along came Minnie with a penny one day
Bought a currant bun & took it away!"

Indoor Gardening - Getting Ready for Spring!

I love seeing the signs Spring rapidly appearing around our garden & Minnie has had great fun spotting them as she plays outside. Yesterday was such a cold, windy wet day we thought we'd do some gardening inside.

DIY Cardboard Box Post Office

Minnie enjoys getting mail! Whenever the postman arrives she runs to the front door ready to ‘catch’ the mail as it flies through the letterbox! With her current interest in letters, writing, & wrapping items in boxes, it seemed the perfect time to explore the following activity.

Storyteller's Box

Following on from our ‘Shredded Paper Play’ activity, I found another redundant box, filled it with more shredded paper & added a variety of objects to create a Storytelling Box!

Walking Through The Jungle - Storybook Imaginative Play

Today we turned some of the items from our Bear Hunt activity into a jungle! Here's how we explored one of our favourite books!

We're Going on a Bear Hunt!

If I had a top five of children’s books Michael Rosen’s wonderful story “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt" would have to be there! Minnie loves the book especially the gorgeous illustrations by Helen Oxenbury, & gets so excited about going on an adventure to find a bear! We’ve shared this book many times, but also enjoy reenacting the story as we walk around our garden.

Spring Nature Hunt

It was such a gorgeous day yesterday that we just had to spend most of our time outside. Yippee!!
Minnie really seems to enjoy birdwatching, & the last few days she has been keenly scanning the garden for signs of any wildlife & signs of Spring. We've been trying to explain that the bulbs she planted way back last Autumn will soon start to grow up through the soil & start flowering, but as you can imagine this concept for a toddler is a difficult one to grasp & we've had lots of; "Now Mummy, now!"

The sunshine inspired us to go on a Nature Hunt to search for signs of Spring & those illusive bulbs! (Now I know Spring doesn't officially begin until March, but we're eager, & just going to check that it is on it's way!) ;o)

Minnie took her homemade binoculars (made craftily from a kitchen towel tube) & Mummy grabbed her camera & off we set.

Tissue Paper Heart Collage Card for Valentine's Day

Here's a quick & easy Valentine's gift for someone special, & a neat way to use any small scraps of tissue paper left from previous crafts.

Goldilocks & the Three Bears - Story Box

"Goldilocks & The Three Bears" is one of our favourite books. When we read the book together Minnie loves to join in with the repeated refrains, & gets so excited when the bears return to their house with Goldilocks still inside!

Homemade Valentine Cookie Gift Jars

Create a Valentine Cookie Jar for Valentine's Day & create a magical memory for a loved one.

Handmade Button Flowers!

Thought you might like to see our latest threading activity, this time we’re creating cute button flowers to decorate our kitchen.

Simple Homemade Number Bunting

We're enjoying exploring numbers in our house at the moment & counting anything & everything!! So to add to Minnie's fun I made her some Number Bunting.
