Interactive Bird Trail for Children to explore your Churchyard or Outdoor Area

With 30 Days Wild, Churches Count on Nature & The Great Big Green Week all popping up this June, it's a perfect month to celebrate your churchyard or green outdoor space & invite your community to explore it.

This colourful interactive Bird Trail is perfect for encouraging children & families to explore some of the incredible wild birds that frequent your outdoor space. Full of amazing facts, fun challenges & more, it's an ideal way to invite all ages to discover the incredible wildlife on their doorstep.

Whether you're an eco-church, eco-school, part of a green group, or a church with a heart for the environment, this trail is for you.

With the rapid decline of so many wild birds, it seems more important than ever to encourage all ages to become aware of them & the dangers they face. Sparking an interest with a simple trail like this can lead not only to awareness & appreciation for wildlife but also inspire positive action to care for it in the future.

This Wild Bird Trail is ideal for displaying around your churchyard, school field, or community space & offers everyone (kids & adults) something new to discover!

All 7 wild birds featured on the trail were once commonly found in churchyards & green spaces in the UK, but how much do you know about them? The mini Fact Files on each trail sign share each bird's size, features, & diet, plus there's a QR code that enables you to hear their bird song! To help identify them there's also a colourful photo so all ages can spot any nearby.

Whether you keep the trail up for a week, a month or longer, it's sure to encourage all ages to look out for wild birds in your area now & in the future.

Why not have a large sheet of paper or whiteboard inside your porch for all ages to record their sightings? Over time, you may notice patterns or changes. Displaying these findings can also encourage others to become involved too. What a simple way to invite your local community to observe & care for creation.

As with all trails & children's activities in churchyards, they should ideally be displayed in older areas with no recent graves.
