5 Books all about Butterflies!

We're celebrating Earth Day with these 5 books all about butterflies! Minnie is fascinated by these beautiful insects & these books have been great to explore together. Last year we watched caterpillars develop into butterflies in our 'Live Butterfly Garden' from Insect Lore, & we've just bought another set to observe the magical transformation again this year.

The Butterfly by Anna Milbourne is a great book for exploring the life cycle of a butterfly, bright bold illustrations show the journey of a munching stripy caterpillar.

Butterfly Butterfly by Petr Horacek follows the adventures of a little girl searching for a butterfly in her garden. As she searches she discovers a hole host of other garden creatures. A gorgeous book for all ages with peep through the holes in the pages & surprise pop up butterfly at the end.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. It's a classic! Another of our favourites which I had to include. Great for exploring life cycles, colours, number, sequencing & days of the week!

Ben Plants a Butterfly Garden by Kate Petty is a great book for exploring life cycles of butterflies & plants. The text is easy to follow & the lift-the-flap illustrations provide lots of fun. This looks like a perfect book for my garden loving girl!

Is that a Butterfly? by Claire Llewellyn is another pop up book telling the story of the life cycle of a butterfly. Two friends, bee & snail, discover just what happens to the caterpillars in the garden. A fun book with bright illustrations.

For butterfly activities check out our hovering butterflies, butterfly garden, butterfly suncatchers, & butterfly magnets
