Crafty Kits 4 Kids Giveaway!

THE WINNER IS TARA (misssumner@gmail.com) CONGRATULATIONS!

We're very excited to be taking part in Crafty Kits 4 Kids organised by the fabulous Michelle at Best Toys for Toddlers. We're joining 13 other blogs from around the world to create kids craft kits just for you! To visit each blog taking part & to see the crafty kits you could win, check out the list at the bottom of this post.

If you follow Sun Hats & Wellie Boots you'll know how much we love exploring the great outdoors & discovering the wildlife that lives nearby, so our kit is full of nature themed goodies! There are 4 different insect craft activities that can be used inside & outside!

Our kit contains two of each of the following crafts:

1. Hovering Dragonflies
Kit contains: 4 chenille wires, 4 beads, 2 sets of wings

2. Garden Snails
Kit contains: 4 CDs, 2 wooden Lolly stick, 4 googly eyes, elastic thread, double sided tape, glue, & sequins.
(I've added eyes & sequins to this kit so you can add a little more sparkle to your snail if you wish)

3. Butterfly Masks
Kit contains: 2 card masks, elastic, butterfly shapes, sticky shapes, sequins, & glue
These masks can be cut, painted, decorated as you wish. To attach the elastic, thread it through each of the punched holes.

4. Furry Caterpillar Name Plaque
Kit contains: Furry fabric, 4 googly eyes, 2 chenille wires, 2 sheets of green card, & glue.
Simply cut the fabric into the caterpillar shape you would like & add the googly eyes. To add the antennae make a small hole in the furry fabric & thread through, alternatively attach to the fabric using glue. Draw & cut out a leaf/flower/fruit shape on the card & stick your furry caterpillar onto the leaf. We used a hole punch to create some holes (where the caterpillar had munched his way through). If you would like to turn this into a cute room plaque, just add your child's name to the card.

  1. Anytime we go camping we love to bug hunt! We've gotten some good bugs at Pikes Peak State Park in Iowa and we'll be checking out Governor Dodge Staet Park in WI this month for some more good bugs.

  6. hello we;re not anon we're the spence family!
we live in an innercity urban area in the uk. but nothing stops my son 5yrs spotting wildlife, he was riding his bike along a concrete path, next to a road, lined with rows and rows of terraced houses and found that if you glance down (have to be quick so you don't come off bicycle!!) at the weeds forcing their growth through brick walls he can find black and yellow caterpillars!

they'll become moths not butterflies so son thinks they ar eprettier in the caterpillar stage!

  7. My four youngest girls love hunting for bugs in our own backyard. They are fearless as they turn over stones and peer beneath leaves in our garden. Once when we found a baby bird which had fallen from it's nest and as my husband went to get a ladder so as to return it, they even dug up earthworms to try and feed it!

My girls would just get lost in this kit! Thanks for the chance to win.

  9. There is a field about three blocks from our home. We go there to look for bugs, rocks, and plants, and also as a place to make us feel better when we are having a rough day.

  22. There are two places we go for bug hunting that I love equally. The first is out garden. I can't believe the sheer number of different insects that live there/visit. The other is a park across the street from our home. It is on a river, so we see all kinds of water-loving bugs. We once saw a dragonfly pluck a tiny fish out of the water and eat it!
